Nov 2024: Introducing the Aragon Foundation
Introducing the Aragon Foundation, launching Puffer and Mode's governance, and final 24 hours of the ANT Redemption Initiative.
TLDR
Recent Highlights:
Introducing the Aragon Foundation, a new non-profit entity created with the sole purpose of carrying forward and advancing the mission of the Aragon Project.Â
We announced the launch of Puffer governance, together, we’ve developed a custom governance solution to launch alongside the PUFFER token, a meaningful step on their decentralization roadmap.
We kicked off the governance games with Mode! They’re the first L2 to implement a modernized vote escrow (ve) and gauge-based governance model. This breakthrough in applying ve and gauges to a rollup ecosystem introduces a dynamic governance model that fosters incentive alignment, reduces coordination overhead, and drives network growth.Â
What’s Next: The whole Aragon team will be on the ground at DevCon next week. If you’re a governance lead, delegate, operator, or active participant come join us for lunch with Agora. More information on where we’re speaking below!
Updates: The ANT Redemption Initiative ends on November 2 at 11:59 UTC. There is only 24h left to redeem your ANT for ETH, after which ANT will no longer be redeemable. To date, 29.42M ANT have been redeemed, representing 86.5% of the outstanding supply, including 2,581 redemptions from both ANT v1 and v2 holders.

The Aragon Foundation: New Council Carrying Forward the Mission
Introducing the Aragon Foundation, a new non-profit entity created with the sole purpose of carrying forward and advancing the mission of the Aragon Project.
Aragon was founded on the belief that the future of humanity will be decided at the frontier of technological innovation and human collaboration. Technology should serve as a catalyst for liberation, not as a tool for dominance. The purpose of the new Aragon Foundation is to drive the development and growth of technology to support effective governance systems that foster liberation. By empowering developers to build blockchain infrastructure and applications, everyone can participate in governance easily, transparently, and securely—without the need for intermediaries.
The Foundation will be led by a Strategic Council, which will define the project’s overarching strategy, allocate funding to key initiatives, and guide builders in the Aragon ecosystem. They will help the project navigate unchartered territory in the years ahead and hold true to the values underpinning onchain governance, such as trust-minimization, end-to-end verifiability, capture-resistance, and credible neutrality.
The Strategic Council has been seeded with reputable builders from across the Ethereum ecosystem with diverse experience, including software & product development, governance, DeFi, law, and research. All Council members have demonstrated deep alignment and support for Aragon's technology, values, and community at different stages of the project.Â
