June 2025: Governance and Access Control With Any Address + The Value Accrual Lab
This month we unlocked major upgrades in the Aragon app, we're hosting a private workshop, The Value Accrual Lab, plus a deep dive into Yieldnest's governance.
TL;DR
Here’s a roundup of Aragon highlights from the past month:
Governance and Access Control With Any Address: You can now seamlessly add any EVM address like Safes, OpenZeppelin contracts, DAOs, and more, as governance bodies to your organization on Aragon, all in just a few clicks.
Building for Value Accrual: In May, we doubled down on Value Accrual, publishing a piece on how ve and guages unlock a growth engine. They don’t just make onchain organizations more democratic, they make them more productive. By combining commitment-based voting with incentive-directed capital allocation, Aragon transforms governance and onchain management from a decision-making layer into a value-generating flywheel unlocking true onchain ownership.
The Value Accrual Lab: Aragon will be hosting theValue Accrual Lab, a private, interactive workshop event for founders and builders on theory, design and practice of value accrual at ETH CC this coming July 2nd. We recently announced our first sponsor, Trevee, who will be hosting a workshop on automating value flow. More big names participating in the event will be announced next week so stay tuned.
Upcoming changes in the Aragon app: From June 30,2025, the latest version of the Aragon app will replace earlier versions of the app, ensuring all builders have seamless access to top features for designing adaptable and modular governance right out of the box. More on this here. For the latest updates on our product side, we’ve recently started publishing a Product Digest. Check out our first issue here.
Multichain launchpad: Onchain organizations can now deploy on Optimism on the full Aragon stack: OSx, app, and Value Accrual Toolkit. Meanwhile, we’ve also enabled deployment for onchain organizations on Celo for OSx and the Value Accrual Toolkit, while opening up deployment for peaq on the Aragon app.
Taiko DAO Live on Mainnet: We're proud to have shipped the final development of Taiko’s governance infrastructure, and will continue to support them as they evolve.
Diving into our custom build for Yieldnest: Our friends at Yieldnest recently announced their governance and launched $YND. Their custom Governance Hub is powered by Aragon OSx, and leverages our Value Accrual Toolkit. We’re proud to have built their newly launched governance system purpose-built for incentive alignment, value accrual, and long-term protocol growth. Dive into our build for them here.
Integration Series: We just launched our integration series and kicked things off with ENS, enabling you to claim your dao.eth subdomain for every mainnet onchain ogranization you launch. We highlighted WalletConnect as well, which enables you to connect different apps to your proposal flow unlocking more complex actions. Lastly, through Octav, onchain organizations can now make more informed decisions on their treasury. More to come in the next weeks!
Livestream with some of the best minds in Tokenomics: We spoke to Blockworks Advisory, Gauntlet, Flipside, and Vending Machine on Value Accrual reimagined. The conversation had a lot of spicy takes. Catch up here.
App Highlights: We broke down multibody voting and proposal types on the app and the complex, modular interactions this unlocks for onchain organizations.
Events: Anthony spoke at ETH Prauge last week, diving into how ownership and governance need incentive alignment. Watch a replay of his talk here. Then our Tokenomics Lead, Ivan, spoke at ETH Belgrade on value accrual. This month, Aragon CTO, Carlos, and Head of BD, Nathan, will be hosting a small workshop on our “Token Value Accrual Framework” at Berlin Blockchain Week on June 17th at 5:45 CET. Don’t miss it.
New in the Aragon App: Governance and Access Control With Any Address
You can now seamlessly add any EVM address like Safes, OpenZeppelin contracts, DAOs, and more, as governance bodies to your organization on Aragon, all in just a few clicks.
This update is a major leap forward in how onchain organizations can manage governance with interoperability at the helm, enabling projects to tap into merged experiences across leading tools.
The Power of Safes and External Addresses in Aragon
Having the flexibility to add existing EVM addresses, such as Safes, allows you to assign important governance roles, such as approving or vetoing proposals, to multiple contributors across different platforms while maintaining your existing infrastructure without the need to switch tools.
With this update, projects can experience:
Unified Operations: Whether you’re using Safes for treasury management, OpenZeppelin Governor contracts, or multiple sub-DAOs for governance, you can now bring all of these components into Aragon for a smooth and unified experience.
Transparency: No more admin multisigs controlling contracts behind the scenes—with all governance actions visible onchain and roles like veto powers clearly defined, transparency is built into the system.
Unmatched Flexibility: You no longer have to rely solely on Aragon plugins available in our UI. Safes, OpenZeppelin contracts, DAOs, or any other EVM-compatible contract can now be integrated into your governance processes, unlocking a world of use cases to be explored and implemented.
No-Code Integration: The integration process is straightforward and doesn’t require coding. You can configure your governance process in just a few clicks, keeping everything within your existing toolset.
What’s Next?
The Value Accrual Lab is happening on July 2, at ETH CC, Cannes.
The Value Accrual Lab is a private, interactive workshop event for founders and builders on theory, design and practice of value accrual.
Learn from practitioners and builders at the forefront of tokenomics and governance on how to leverage tokenomics primitives to align incentives, accrue value for tokenholders, and build successful onchain networks. With four carefully curated workshops, those looking to build their organization onchain, structure their tokenomics, define their ecosystem incentives, or learn how to accrue value to their token can join for an afternoon of insights and real-time support spanning key engineering and tokenomic topics.
Here are the four workshops:
Session 1: Value Accrual and Incentive Design: A Practical approach to the evolution of tokens in crypto-economic and protocol networks (non-technical)
Session 2: Native token locker and staker design: Balancing game theory, composability, and engineering complexity in locker design and parameter setting (technical)
Session 3: Growth flywheels: Strategic approach to incentive distribution for sticky usage: what to spend on, when, and how much (non-technical)
Session 4: Onchain incentive distribution: How to prepare for automation while reducing reliance on trusted intermediaries and decreasing operational overhead (technical)
With canapés, a social hub, and closing drinks alongside a day of deep-thinking and innovation, the Value Accrual Lab is a great opportunity to connect with other industry leaders shaping the future of onchain organizations. Register here.
Have a great weekend, see you next month, and follow us on X in the meantime!
