How to use the Aragon App and Coinvise to create a governance token airdrop
An airdrop is when you send a certain amount of governance tokens to wallet addresses because you want to encourage those addresses to participate in your DAO’s governance. You might choose wallets that have performed an action you want to incentivize, like interacting with your protocol.
There are two major steps to creating an airdrop using the Aragon App and Coinvise:
Create a DAO in the Aragon App and mint all the tokens you want to airdrop to your wallet.
Or, if you already have a DAO on the Aragon App, create a proposal to mint more governance tokens to your wallet.
Create a wallet drop in Coinvise and distribute the tokens to other wallets.
Let’s dive into the details.
In the Aragon App, click “Create a DAO” and follow the DAO creation flow to make a token-based DAO. When you get to the step to mint tokens, mint all the tokens you want to use in the airdrop to your personal wallet. Launch your DAO by paying a transaction fee.
Now, go to Coinvise and hover over the tab that says “Create.” Connect the wallet you minted the governance tokens to.
Click “Wallet Drop.” Paste in your governance token’s contract address.
Then, add the wallet addresses and the number of tokens each should receive. You can also use one of their plugins to import addresses of NFT holders, POAP holders, Snapshot voters, and more.
Approve the airdrop by signing two transactions. Then, your airdrop is complete and you can head back over to the Aragon App to run your governance!
