Highlight of the Week: Building for the next wave of DAOs
Aragon is bringing our focus back to product, tech, and developers. A critical step in this process is communicating our message of an unopinionated, modular, composable Aragon.
Juliette spoke about DAOs as permission management systems, and elaborated on how our new Aragon App will make it easier for DAO builders to plug-and-play applications for their unique use case. This talk is a great summary of the new direction of Aragon, and is definitely worth a watch!
We’ve been talking with experts on their opinions of the next wave of DAOs, which has been helpful in validating our beliefs on a more modular, composable Aragon. Read the full blog on The Next 10,000 DAOs According to DAO Experts to learn about experts’ opinions on these topics:

July 2022 AN DAO Charter Improvement Proposals (CIP 0 - 2)
This vote will determine if three charter improvement proposals will be ratified.
CIP 0: Historic Versioning: Approve major stylistic changes and reformatting.
CIP 1: Tech Agnostic: Make the AN DAO charter tech agnostic, as long as the tech used is sybil resistant, trustless, open-source, and approved by token holders via a vote.
CIP 2: Quorum, Notification, and Readability: Reduce the quorum, shorten the notification period of proposals, and rewrite the charter in plain language.
Cast your vote on Aragon Voice before August 4.
Proposals
Main DAO Financial Proposal: Due for voting
The Future is Gathering team requests $5,500 funding support for the interdisciplinary “The Future is Now” gathering. The funding will support the attendance of individuals from minority and disadvantaged groups with few financial means who could otherwise not attend.

Talk of the DAO
There are many bearish sentiments on DAOs on Crypto Twitter these days. Here’s my perspective on that:
DAOs don’t get rid of human coordination problems—they amplify them. I believe that many people thought DAOs would instantly solve a lot of problems of traditional organizations. Instead, we’re left with all those same problems, but this time they’re out in the open.
With blockchain tech, we have new tools to solve them.
DAOs are not a silver bullet for organization success. Just like an LLC or a corporation or a co-op, the organization structure does not determine success. It’s the contents of the organization that determine the success—the contents being the purpose, tools, contributors, organization operating system, rituals, and shared goals.
DAOs give us the permission management systems to solve coordination problems at scale. We just need to use them in a way that works for us, and know that the learning process will be hard.
Give a man to fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to fish, he eats for life. Give a man a solved coordination problem, he relaxes for a day, teach a man to use Aragon tools to solve coordination problems, he relaxes forever. Right? We’ll see!
