16 September 2022: Aragon core contracts enter audits
The core team celebrates a major milestone as core contracts enter audits, Kyiv Tech Summit bounty winners chosen, Aragon partners with Gitcoin for 15th round of grants
Top 3
Aragon core contracts are entering audits now! You can start playing with them on Github. This is a big win for the Core team, which has been hard at work on these contracts! This unblocks the development of the SDK and contract documentation, which in turn unblocks the app interface development. Congrats to the Core team for achieving this major milestone!
Winners of Aragon’s bounties in the Kyiv Tech Summit were chosen this week. One team built auto undelegate and delegate override features for Aragon DAOs, and another team built a transparency oracle that notifies DAO members if certain treasury transactions occur. Thanks to everyone who made the hackathon the incredible event it was!
Gitcoin Grants Round 15 is live from September 7-22, and Aragon is a proud matching partner. Find a grant to donate to and help a team kickstart their project on Ethereum! Learn more about Gitcoin Grants in the Talk of the DAO section below.
Highlight of the week: Aragon core contracts enter audits
by our Core and App development teams
The Core team has some amazing news!
The last few weeks have been spent tweaking and refactoring the final bits of our protocol layer. As of today, we are excited to announce we’ve crossed another major milestone with the architecture and implementation finally ready for audit!
This unblocks the development of the SDK and contract documentation, which in turn unblocks the app interface development. A huge step in the right direction, we envision the auditing process lasting at least a few months to make sure we prioritize safety before launching on mainnet, but you can already start playing with it on Github.
On the App side, we continue developing the governance experience and proposal creation. Progress has had an unfortunate slight setback, as we have identified additional complexity between frontend and backend when handling voting and execution of an approved proposal. Now that the SDK is unblocked, we are on the right path to finding a solution for this soon.

Financial Proposal: Customer Discovery, Validation & Alternate Revenue for Aragon DAO
Shanzz requests funding of $25,025 for 12 weeks. This proposal is for customer discovery and initial validation to actively research, meet and interview executives, and use the feedback to come up with the first MVP for traditional organizations' DAO use cases.

Happy Merge! This is a landmark moment for the Ethereum community. Ethereum is now officially a Proof of Stake network, with energy consumption decreased by 99.9%.
Here’s a visualizaiton of The Merge from Ethereum Daily:
And here’s a chart from Ethereum.org, with data from Digiconomist, showing energy consumption of Ethereum PoS compared to Bitcoin, Ethereum PoW, gold mining, and web2 platforms such as Youtube:
Aragon’s applications and OS are not affected by the merge, but any DAOs running on a testnet should make sure to migrate off the Rinkeby testnet. Aragon support is available now for Ropsten and is coming soon for Görli and Sepolia.

Talk of the DAO: Donate to a Gitcoin Grant

Gitcoin grants kicked off on September 7th and runs until the 22nd. These grants fund teams building projects in the Ethereum ecosystem. From Uniswap to POAP to Bankless, tons of household web3 names got their start with a Gitcoin grant.
Aragon is proud to once again be a Matching Partner with Gitcoin to provide funds for these budding teams and their projects.
Gitcoin uses a quadratic funding model, which is a unique way to match funds. Here’s how it works: Gitcoin has Matching Partners, which are large donors. The Matching Partners’ funds are distributed to the projects that got the most community support. The quadratic funding model uses the number of donors, rather than the amount each person donated, to determine where funds go. For example, if 100 people donated $1 to a project, that project would get more matched funds than if 2 people each donated $50 to another project.
This creates a collective signal—projects that are most loved and supported by the community get bumped up. Even the smallest donation can create a massive impact on a team and their future product or service.
Gitcoin grants are possibly the most successful instance of public goods funding in Ethereum to date. Consider donating to a Gitcoin Grant and funding a team building tech for the future of Ethereum.
Have a great weekend!
